Akasen Chitai is a 1956 film directed by Kenji Mizoguchi. It was Mizoguchi's first contemporary drama since The Woman of Rumor in 1954, and it became his final film as he passed away after its release.
The film received high praise for the vibrant and frenzied performances of Machiko Kyo, Ayako Wakao, and Michiyo Kogure, among others, in roles different from their usual work. It also featured Aiko Mimasu, known for her mother roles at the time, playing a seasoned prostitute.
