Lemaire Paris Opera Glasses, Vintage,Mother-of-Pearl, Original Case c.1880–1900

Return to the vintage beauty of the past with these fabulous antique French opera glasses by Lemaire, Paris, one of the most respected 19th-century makers of optical instruments. These binocular style glasses have an exquisite mother-of-pearl inlay with gilt brass frames, showcasing the refined craftsmanship associated with Parisian luxury accessories of the period.   The eyecups are clearly marked “LEMAIRE FABT * PARIS *”, with FABT denoting fabricant (manufacturer), confirming authenticity and French origin. They also include the bee shaped logo which was the company’s trademark.   The shimmering mother of pearl barrels and eyecups reflect light beautifully, making these both a functional optical instrument and a striking decorative collectible.   The central focusing wheel is still operational, and it actually works quite smoothly. This set includes the original fitted case, a highly desirable feature that significantly enhances collectibility and value.     This set has been in my family since its original purchase back in the late1800s.  This is an antique set in good condition for its age. See pictures for details.
