Gardon Mâcon

186.00 $
Description
A beautiful, highly collectible 19th-century French brass reservoir utility lamp manufactured by Gardon. This specific piece is incredibly rare, featuring the crisp regional foundry stamp GARDON MÂCON clearly impressed directly onto the front of the spherical brass oil font. The original flame regulator wheel turns smoothly and is explicitly stamped Gardon Bte S.G.D.G. This distinctive bulb-type reservoir design includes its signature forward-facing spout nozzle. Historically, this configuration allowed French workshop artisans, jewelers, and apothecaries to direct a precise, torch-like flame for fine task work and soldering. Condition Details: Authentic Patina: Offered in its original, untouched antique condition with a beautiful, uncleaned historic patina as found. I have purposely left the original aging intact for the buyer's preference. It displays a deep, rich historic brass tone. Mechanicals: The spinning wick adjustment wheel moves and operates smoothly. Excellent structural shape with no major cracks, shows minor surface dings consistent with a 150-year-old workshop bench tool. Please review all photos carefully as they serve as the ultimate guide to its physical condition. Ships heavily bubble wrapped via USPS Ground Advantage
