The lace-up design allows for a flexible fit, while the full-length outside metal zipper provides quick and easy access. There is like a gold stain on the back of one; I don't recall what it is, as I haven't worn them in years. Truthfully, I never bothered to clean it, as I wore them only once and never again. The zipper works perfectly, and the shoes are basically new.
