Vintage Mexico Taxco Sterling Silver Abalone Inlay Butterfly Screw Back Earrings
N/A
Up for sale is a stunning pair of mid-century vintage Mexican artisan earrings shaped like stylized butterflies. Hand-crafted in solid sterling silver, each earring features vibrant, iridescent hand-cut abalone shell panels set in custom channel cells. The shell showcases a lovely natural coloration with shifting hues of green, pink, and yellow. ⠀ The reverse side of the wings features clean, crisp stamps, containing the artisan hallmark ECF, 925, and MEXICO. The top of the wing also includes the official government-issued Eagle Assay mark with the number 1 inside it. This assay mark dates the pair's production between 1948 and 1979 (most likely 1950s–1960s). They are completed by secure, smoothly functioning screw-back mechanisms for unpierced ears. ⠀ Item Specifications • Type: Vintage Screw-Back Earrings (Non-Pierced) • Design: Segmented Butterfly Wings • Material: .925 Sterling Silver & Natural Abalone Shell • Total Weight: 5.3 grams (for the pair) • Origin: Taxco, Mexico • Hallmarks: ECF, 925, MEXICO, Eagle 1 Assay Mark • Era: Vintage / Mid-Century (circa 1950s–1960s) ⠀ Condition Excellent vintage condition with a warm, natural aged patina.
