There are minor scuffs, small scratches, paint peeling, and signs of use, but the varnish still retains its luster. The instrument has undergone extensive repairs, overall adjustments, and an overhaul at a workshop (fingerboard planing, fingerboard polishing, repair of cracks on the top, back, and sides, adjustment of bridge and soundpost position, internal cleaning) for this listing. It is currently in healthy condition as a musical instrument. It is stored in its case in a living room environment.

This is a cello made in 2017.
Jay Haide is a string instrument manufacturer supervised in California, USA, and is handcrafted by artisans in Chinese workshops using solid Himalayan spruce and maple tonewoods. Cellos from around 2017, before the significant yen depreciation, offer particularly high cost performance and are finished with an antique-style Cremona-style varnish. This is an intermediate to advanced grade. New instruments can be test-played at stores like Kurosawa Gakki.
The hard case with one shoulder strap is a bonus.

[Subjective Impressions]
It is very light and responsive, with no feeling of heaviness in the sound production, reminiscent of an old instrument. It is the opposite of the rich sound of German instruments. The G string has a deep and rich tone, similar to the C string. The A and D strings have a light and refreshing resonance, as if filled with air. The tone quality is consistent from high to low notes, and it plays well in higher positions without any discomfort. The D string around the 4th and 5th positions is bright and light, matching the A string, which has a bright and lustrous tone without any roughness. There is a slight wolf tone on the F note of the G string.
