Pyrex Flameware #817-B vintage 7”stovetop glass skillet (2) Borosilicate glass.
Pyrex
Set of (2) Pyrex Flameware #817-B vintage 1940s stovetop-safe 7” glass skillet. Made from blue-tinted heat-resistant Borosilicate glass, not intended for broiler use. Included is a manual clamp on Corningware handle that fits the side lug to remove skillets safely from oven or stovetop. It’s not the “original” handle. The skillet is 7” in diameter stands 1.5” deep. Historically designed for stovetop cooking (particularly electric stoves and older gas ranges), vintage Flameware is prone to thermal shock if exposed to sudden temp changes, oven use is suggested. Many collectors use them for display or baking in the oven rather than direct stovetop use. The Handle Issue: The 817-B model did not have a permanently attached handle; rather, it relied on a removable, spring-loaded metal or bakelite handle. These are our family items, No chips in the dishes. They still retain heat well, cooks evenly.
