Ekenäs Sweden Glass Spiral Napkin Rings — Set of 8, Mid-Century Modern, c. 1960s
Unbranded
A beautiful complete set of eight clear glass spiral napkin rings from the historic Ekenäs Glasbruk glassworks in Sweden. These are authentic mid-century Scandinavian hot glass — heavy, solid, hand-formed glass with incredible light-refracting clarity. Each ring features the characteristic internal spiral texture and smooth, fire-polished ends that are hallmarks of Ekenäs production. Unlike the common acrylic or plastic pretzel napkin rings from the same era, these have real weight and presence. You can feel the quality the moment you pick one up — these are substantial, artisan-made glass, not lightweight novelties. The minimalist spiral design is quintessentially Scandinavian — clean, elegant, and timeless. A full set of eight is increasingly rare. Most sets have been broken up over the decades, and finding individual rings or sets of four is far more common. Eight means you can set a full dinner party table with a cohesive, designer look. Likely designed by John-Orwar Lake, who served as the primary designer at Ekenäs Glasbruk from 1953 until the factory closed in 1976. Lake was renowned for his mastery of organic, flowing forms in glass — the spiral motif in these rings reflects that same design sensibility.
