Description
This is a DVD of Tchaikovsky's The Nutcracker ballet performed by the Kirov Ballet.
The recording was made in October 1993 at the Mariinsky Theatre.
The Nutcracker is one of Tchaikovsky's three major ballets and is arguably his most popular work.
Like Beethoven's Ode to Joy and Handel's Messiah, it is frequently performed at the end of the year, especially around Christmas.
It is a dreamlike story based on the Nutcracker doll, featuring a wealth of beautiful music, with many famous pieces, and the Waltz of the Flowers is particularly exquisite.
The Mariinsky Theatre is where Tchaikovsky's three major ballets premiered, and it is a magnificent stage.
The principal dancer, Larissa Lezhnina, was a ballerina at the height of her popularity at the time.
I don't remember when I bought it, but the case, booklet, and the DVD itself have very few scratches or stains, and I believe it is in excellent condition.
