Antique 1922 Shields Black Cufflinks & Baer Wilde Shirt Studs
Baer&Wilde
Antique 1920s Shields Black Cufflinks & Baer Wilde Shirt Studs Description Elegant antique formal dress set combining a pair of signed Shields cufflinks with three early Baer & Wilde snap-apart shirt studs. The Shields cufflinks feature large oval, faceted black glass stones held in ornate silver-tone rope-edge settings. Their dramatic dark stones and textured surrounds coordinate beautifully with the smaller round studs. The three complete shirt studs have glossy black faces, small pale pearl-like centres, and decorative silver-tone borders. Each stud separates into two pieces for fitting through a formal shirt. The backs are marked “BAER & WILDE PAT. PENDING.” This patent-pending marking dates the studs to approximately 1922–early 1923, before the Baer & Wilde snap-button patent was granted in May 1923. Please note: This is a carefully coordinated period set assembled from Shields cufflinks and Baer & Wilde studs. It is not represented as an original factory-matched set. Includes: One pair of signed Shields cufflinks Three complete Baer & Wilde snap-apart shirt studs/ cufflinks 1922 or early 1923 Eight individual components in total Good antique condition with expected surface wear, light discolouration, and signs of age. The black stones remain attractive, and all three studs retain both connecting halves. Please examine the photographs closely as part of the condition description. Unusually early formal set for black-tie, weddings, collectors, or vintage evening wear.
