This majestic dam, registered as an Important Cultural Property of Japan, evokes the castles of medieval Europe and is well worth a visit.
It is a concrete reservoir dam with a crest length of 145.5m and a height of 30.4m. The dam features a multiple arch structure with 5 arches and 6 buttresses in the central section, supported by gravity-type sections at both ends. Its pioneering and rare structural design holds significant value in the history of agricultural engineering, demonstrating the technical achievements in dam construction during the early Showa period. It was designated an Important Cultural Property (Building) on December 19, 2006.
