Antique MZ Austria Hatpin Holder 6.25" Handpainted Violets c.1900

This is the classic tall corset-waist shape with flared foot and flared top, made to hold long hatpins upright on a Victorian dresser. The top is finished inside and out with bright gold, pierced with one large center hole and six smaller holes around it — exactly as made.  Base marks (see photo): green printed crown over M Z with AUSTRIA above — the Moritz Zdekauer mark used 1884-1909. Also incised 1268 mold number.  Measurements:  • Height: 6 1/4 (from your ruler photo)  • Base diameter: approx 3  • Top opening: approx 1 1/2  Condition:  Excellent antique condition for 100+ years old. No chips, cracks, hairlines or repairs. Light even wear to the gold on the rim and inside the top (see top-down photo), a few tiny kiln specks in the glaze at the foot (factory).
