★★★ The following is quoted from web reviews:
① Among ballets, The Nutcracker is enjoyable for both adults and children. While the Kirov Ballet's version is wonderful with Larisa Lezhnina's delicate performance, Peter Wright's The Nutcracker is closer to the original and is a more fantastical and moving production that offers a different experience.
The highlight is the magnificent duet between Leslie Collier (Sugar Plum Fairy) and Anthony Dowell (Prince) in the Palace of Sweets, but the Arabian Dance is always moving no matter how many times you watch it. You can feel the dancing technique and an almost bewitching allure.

② Among the many performances, The Nutcracker is the most popular and enjoyable for both children and adults, and this DVD is my favorite among those I've seen. ★ Those who know well will understand.
Furthermore, Julie Rose's portrayal of Clara is exceptionally charming, rivaling Alina Cojocaru in the 2001 version of the same Royal Ballet. If Clara isn't charming, the viewing tension drops significantly, but there's no such worry with this production.

The greatest value of this DVD is that it is conducted by Rozhdestvensky.
Tchaikovsky's late masterpiece, The Nutcracker. I can confidently say that Rozhdestvensky's performance on this DVD is the best. It is a rare experience to be able to listen to Rozhdestvensky's superb performance while watching the Royal Ballet's dancing. The snowflake dance in Act 1, Scene 2, as they approach the snowy pine forest - the corps de ballet of the Snowflakes, and especially the introduction to Act 2, are so moving with Tchaikovsky's music and Rozhdestvensky's performance that one is almost overcome.
