Vintage Japanese Damascene K24 Gold Inlay Fan Cufflinks MT FUJI marked JAPAN
Japanese Damascene Cufflinks
Vintage Japanese Damascene K24 Gold Inlay Fan Cufflinks MT FUJI marked JAPAN This striking pair of vintage Japanese Damascene cufflinks showcases the intricate artistry of traditional Zogan (gold and silver inlay on iron) craftsmanship, likely dating to the mid-20th century. Each cufflink features a beautifully detailed front panel shaped like a traditional folding fan (measuring approx. 7/8 by 5/8 inch), depicting a detailed scene of Mount Fuji, a prominent pagoda, and pine trees, executed in genuine 24K gold and silver inlay against a blackened steel/iron background. The fan fronts connect via simple chain links to distinctive oval torpedo backs. The reverse of the fan panels is clearly marked with the stamp JAPAN on the back. The corresponding oval torpedo halves (measuring approx. 5/8 by 1/4 inch) feature a clean black finish and are embedded with the mark ~ K24 ~ in gold. These authentic export cufflinks are a great example of the high-quality damascene work popular with tourists and US servicemen after WWII. This handsome pair remains in excellent vintage condition with a beautiful aged patina to the gold. Perfect for collectors of Japanese art jewelry or sophisticated attire accessories.
