V.Bach D Trumpet Early Elkhart 236/43
This is a D trumpet with a back bell, produced very early in the period known as the Early Elkhart era.
It produces a lustrous and full-bodied tone, making it suitable for a wide range of settings, from chamber music to orchestras.
The 236 bell, which this instrument is equipped with, is the standard bell for D trumpets, usually paired with a 7 leadpipe.
This particular instrument appears to be a custom order, as it comes with a 43 leadpipe, which I believe contributes to its even more lustrous sound.
The intonation is good, and it should be very useful for pieces requiring transposition or those with many high notes.
Each piston is stamped with a serial number, and all match.
Furthermore, the airtightness is excellent.
Regarding the lacquer, there are some small spots of lifting around the bell, and peeling at minor repair sites. I estimate about 97% of the original lacquer remains.
There are three repairs on the bell and one on the branch pipe extending to the valve casing on the 1st slide, all of which have been beautifully repaired.
This instrument is ready for immediate use and is also a highly valuable item for collectors.
A hard case is included.
