This is a half-length kimono made of handwoven cotton dyed with genuine indigo.
Purchased at an antique market in Shikoku. It's either Tosa cotton from Kochi, Iyo cotton, or perhaps a local weave from an unknown household... I'm not sure, but it has a very sturdy weave and a beautiful indigo hue.

It's tailored as a half-length kimono with okumi (gussets), suggesting it was worn by someone doing farm work, paired with indigo hakama pants or tattsuke hakama. When I acquired it, there were still faint traces of mud splashes.

It was found in a storehouse and smelled dusty, so I boiled it, sterilized it, and sun-dried it to clean it before storing. The indigo didn't bleed even when soaked in hot water, and after drying, the color remained deep and strong. It made me realize how carefully indigo dyeing was done in the past (and how much modern indigo dyeing is a cost-cut imitation...).

The sizing has been completely removed, so it can be washed at home.
It would be suitable for a Boro (ragged textile) collection or as material for remakes due to its excellent weave. However, as it retains its kimono shape, it can also be worn as everyday wear like samue (work clothes) or paired with hakama. It's also recommended for those who ride bicycles.

Note: The back seam is partially unraveled.
