Vintage Smokey Bear Comic Book Lot Of 2 1964 + 1969 Variant Inside Covers Rare

Lot of 2 vintage “The True Story of Smokey Bear” comic books, published by Western Publishing Company for the U.S. Forest Service fire prevention campaign. • 1964 printing — copyright line reads “1960, 1964.” Cover shows expected age-toning, with lighter creasing than the 1969 copy. • 1969 printing — copyright line reads “1960, 1964, 1969.” Cover colors are noticeably more vibrant, though this copy has more creasing overall. Both share the same cover art but differ inside cover— the 1964 printing includes a page about Smokey’s real-life home at the National Zoological Park in Washington D.C., along with his own zip code (20252) for young fans sending contributions. The 1969 printing instead features “Little Smokey” with Judy Bell, the ranger’s wife who nursed the real orphaned bear cub back to health. A fun, affordable piece of Smokey Bear / fire prevention advertising history — great for collectors of vintage advertising, Forest Service memorabilia, or Smokey completists.
