"Natsume Arata no Kekkon" [DVD]

Natsume Arata no Kekkon [DVD]

A suspense film based on the hit comic of the same name by Nogiizaka Taro, directed by Yukihiko Tsutsumi. It depicts a dangerous game of cat and mouse that begins with a prison marriage to a death row inmate.

Shinju Shinagawa, a death row inmate known by the nickname Shinagawa Clown due to her clown makeup at the time of her arrest, is the perpetrator of a serial dismemberment murder case that shocked Japan. Arata Natsume, a child welfare officer, is asked by a child of one of the victims to find the missing head of the victim and attempts to contact Shinju. Shinju, who appears before Arata, has a demeanor that belies her image as a brutal criminal who committed a heinous crime. To extract information from Shinju, Arata boldly proposes marriage to her. In their 20-minute daily visits, Arata is tossed about by Shinju's ever-changing words and actions. Eventually, Shinju makes the shocking confession that she did not kill anyone.

Yuya Yagira plays the protagonist Arata Natsume, and Yuina Kuroshima plays the death row inmate Shinju Shinagawa. The cast also includes Jiro Sato, Taishi Nakagawa, Rei Maruyama, Shiraku Tachikawa, and Masachika Ichimura. The screenplay was written by Yuichi Tokunaga, known for the Fly Me to the Saitama series.
