⚫︎ Features of a Valve Trombone
• Because pitch changes are made with valves (piston type) instead of a slide, notes can be switched quickly and accurately. Compared to slide trombones, the operation can be more intuitive.
• Due to its structure, maintenance of the valve mechanism is necessary. The airtightness of the pistons, as well as the condition of the springs and gaskets, affect the sound and playability.
• The tone tends to be slightly firmer than that of a slide trombone, but individual characteristics emerge depending on the model, bell material, and bore size.
