Gary Lucas, a rock guitarist known for his work with Captain Beefheart's band and his collaborations with Jeff Buckley. This album features Gary and two singers (Celeste Chong and Gisburg) reinterpreting the music of 1940s Shanghai legendary pop singers Bai Kwong and Chow Shun. At the same time, it allows us to stand on the Edge of Heaven of China while reshaping the idioms of Shanghai in the 1930s-1950s. Recorded in New York in 2000. Imported CD released in 2001 by Label Bleu in France. An interesting and rare find.
