Vintage ILSA Enameled Cast Iron Heat Diffuser

Black Enamel Coating on Top - durable, easy to clean, and offers long-lasting performance. GOOD condition. Raw cast iron bottom – no rust/flaws. Enameled top - Light surface marks but suitable for its age. Light chip in the enamel (shown). Has been washed and lightly oiled for this listing. Handle not included. Excellent for camping, too.  The ILSA heat diffuser is placed between the heat source and saucepan, reducing need to mix while cooking as it distributes heat in a uniform and constant manner. When in use, foods neither burn nor stick, retaining intact all their vitamin, mineral and protein properties. Prevents external blackening caused by the flame to the bottom of the pan. Suitable for all types of pots and pans, and for use on both gas and electric stoves. Fits all burners. Ideal for pans lacking a double radiant bottom and indispensable for Pyrex and Terracotta. Not intended for induction cooktops.  CARE: Wash in warm, light soapy water, dry immediately. Every few months, brush a VERY THIN coat of oil with a high-smoke point (ie grapeseed or avocado, even Crisco.) Wipe it off as if it were a mistake to prevent a sticky finish after heating. This also restores the gloss enamel look.  AVOID oven cleaners, abrasive metal pads, and soaking in water for long periods. Vinegar, lemon, or baking soda paste are also good as cleaning agents.
