Antique Davis Collamore & Co. individual Serving Dishes, set of 4

This is an Antique set of 4 individual serving dishes. While visually similar to French culinary cocottes, fine English porcelain sets of this nature, featuring fragile gold gilding, were intended purely for elegant table presentation rather than oven baking; traditionally used to serve warm delicate side courses, specialized individual stews, sauces, gravies, or small sophisticated appetizers.  Davis Collamore & Co. was a premier Gilded Age importer of luxury tableware, competing directly with Tiffany & Co.. They routinely commissioned custom, hand-painted, and richly gilded patterns from top European potteries for Manhattan's elite.  These pieces were manufactured at the legendary Cauldon Place works in Staffordshire, England.  This set of personal dishes is in excellent condition, showing minimal wear of the gilt.   Each dish (sans handle) measures 3-1/4” x 2-7/8” x 1-3/8” tall, while being 1-3/16” deep. The handle measures 2-3/4” long, making the total length 5-3/8”
