Vintage Carter Hoffman Friendly Farm planter or flower bowl, circa 1950s. Ceramic triangular-shaped bowl with a red and lime green farm scene. Simple hand-drawn carriage and tree motif. Clean, versatile piece for display or use. The Historic Connection: General Petroleum Corporation was a West Coast oil giant that became a subsidiary of Socony-Vacuum (later Mobil Oil). For decades, they operated the West Coast division using the famous Mobil Red Pegasus branding. The Advertising Campaign: During the mid-20th century, General Petroleum commissioned Carter Hoffman Originals to produce this Friendly Farm ceramic line. These pieces were distributed locally on the West Coast as promotional gas station premiums to incentivize loyal customers filling up their tanks.
