Antique Silver Overlay Glass Divided Relish Dish Floral Poppy Scalloped‎ Bowl

Antique glass relish dish features a divided center and elegant silver overlay in a floral poppy pattern. The scalloped rim is finished with a silver edge, complemented by ornate scrolled handles on either side. This decorative serving piece showcases intricate botanical detailing on clear pressed glass, perfect for holiday tables or vintage-inspired entertaining. Silver overlay on a dish is a decorative technique where a layer of sterling silver is permanently bonded to a non-metallic surface. Using an electroplating process, silver is applied in intricate, often floral or geometric patterns onto the item, which is then fired to fuse the silver with the material. Unlike standard silver plating, silver overlay is usually thicker and creates a more permanent, intricate, and decorative, often raised, design. This technique was highly popular in the late 19th and early 20th centuries, with companies like Gorham producing extensively on glass and porcelain.
