Vtg Art Deco Tashiro Shoten Japan Hand-Painted Orange Poppy Ceramic Creamer 1920
Ceramica Lombarda
Vtg Art Deco Tashiro Shoten Japan Hand-Painted Orange Poppy Ceramic Creamer 1920 This elegant Art Deco ceramic creamer was produced during the 1920s to 1930s by Tashiro Shoten in Nagoya, Japan, for Western export. Designed to emulate the popular interwar American kitchenware trends, it features a striking hand-painted stylized orange-red poppy flower motif accented by geometric black and grey foliage. The crisp white porcelain body boasts strong Art Deco geometry, highlighted by thin red and metallic silver trim bands framing the rim and base. The underside features the manufacturer's authentic pre-WWII backstamp: a black line-art elephant trademark over the text Hand Painted, Made in Japan. Perfect for collectors of antique Japanese export porcelain, Art Deco tableware, or vintage kitchen kitsch. Excellent Vintage Condition Overall Appearance: This piece shows wonderfully for its age, retaining bright, vibrant orange-red pigments on the poppy motif. The glaze remains glossy with a smooth finish. Flaws to Note: No structural cracks, chips, or major flea bites are present. There is a very minor, faint glaze crazing line visible on the interior bottom upon close inspection, which is standard for Japanese export ceramics of this era. Trim Wear: The silver and red accent bands around the upper rim and foot show light, expected surface wear from age and handling, but remain largely intact. Underside: The Tashiro Shoten elephant backstamp is crisp, clear, and fully legible.
