Elegant white porcelain plate featuring a hand-painted purple and yellow floral motif. Delicate pierced border and subtle gold trim add refined detail. Perfect for display or as a decorative accent in your home. Porcelain production in Japan saw a significant surge during the post-World War II occupation period (1945-1952). American demand for affordable decorative items led many Japanese manufacturers to produce pieces specifically for export, often featuring hand-painted floral designs and gold accents. These items, marked Occupied Japan, are now sought after by collectors for their nostalgic appeal and craftsmanship. Lace or reticulated porcelain, characterized by its delicate, pierced designs, has a long history dating back to the 18th century in Europe. This technique involves creating intricate patterns by cutting or molding holes into the porcelain body, often around the rim or sides of a dish or vase. It was particularly popular in the late 19th and early 20th centuries, and Japanese manufacturers adopted and adapted this style for their export wares.
