Wedgwood Portland Blue Jasperware Campana Urn Vase Classical Relief England

Wedgwood Portland Blue Jasperware campana or krater form urn vase, dark cobalt blue matte bisque with white classical relief figures (a priestess offering at an altar with two attendants and an oak tree), fluted bowl base and a laurel-wreath sprigged pedestal foot. Marked Wedgwood England. Josiah Wedgwood introduced Jasperware in 1774, and the deep Portland Blue with white classical relief has been the flagship Wedgwood look ever since. The campana urn silhouette (fluted lower bowl, flared trumpet top) is one of the oldest neoclassical shapes in the Wedgwood catalog. Dark blue commands a bracket above the softer pale blue, and the sprigged foot on this one is a nice extra detail.
