Among the Betrayed by Margaret Peterson Book

Among the Betrayed is the third installment in Margaret Peterson Haddix's dystopian Shadow Children series. Set in a future where families are strictly limited to two children, the story follows Nina Idi, a third child who is arrested by the Population Police after being betrayed by the boy she loved. While imprisoned, Nina is presented with a harrowing moral choice: she must either convince three other young prisoners to admit they are illegal shadow children to save herself, or refuse and face execution. The novel explores her internal struggle as she navigates this dilemma and attempts to find a path to survival and redemption for both herself and the other children. Does have some flaws.
