VTG Depression Era Pressed Glass Tomato Knife

Vintage Vitex Glass Tomato knife with blue tint.  Beautiful cut glass handle.  Knife was used with nicks on the bladeand tip  These knives were primarily designed as fruit, citrus, tomato, and cake knives. Glass was used because traditional metal knives of the era would tarnish, discolor, or react chemically with the acid in fruits like oranges, lemons, and tomatoes  handle features a characteristic molded three-star and diamond geometric pattern. It was famously promoted and sold as a souvenir item at the 1939 New York World's Fair
