This is a souvenir item from about 30 years ago, when my family frequently attended sumo matches.
It is sometimes treated as a rare item that is difficult to obtain nowadays.
Originally intended for making yukata, its stylish design has recently made it popular as a material for remaking into collector's items such as aloha shirts and bags.
● Genyadana
Dyed using the traditional technique called Honzome (Chusen).
● Width: Approximately 35.5cm
● Condition: No noticeable stains and in beautiful condition, but due to age, very faint stains have appeared, so we have applied Akamaru. Please check the last image.
The basting threads are still attached, so the inside cannot be inspected, and there may be other age-related stains.
We ask for your understanding that this is a new old stock item.
● Pattern [East, West, etc.]
A sumo-themed design characterized by a navy checkered pattern on a white background.
It is scattered with auspicious motifs that evoke sumo tours and festivals, such as drums, war fans, clappers, arrow feathers, and the characters East and West.
*We are currently listing all 5 bolts of sumo souvenir fabric. Please feel free to inquire about combined shipping.
