The sound of a companion that wards off fox spirits.
When you think of bells in the mountains, a bear bell comes to mind. It's used to let animals know that you are entering their territory. Her workshop is located next to the kitchen of a traditional house surrounded by fields, mountains, and rivers in Tanba Sasayama. In her quiet workshop, where time seems to have stopped, Ms. Isogawa melts silver and crafts bells by hand from scratch. No two are exactly alike, as if made by machine, and therefore their tones also differ slightly. She says that bells are both amulets and signals in life.
