Marked Stainless Steel Sheffield on the blade. The kind of piece that lived in a wedding hostess drawer. Sheffield, England has been the heart of English cutlery since the 1740s, and mother-of-pearl handled servers were a wedding-registry staple right through the 20th century. MOP handles were sourced from oyster and abalone shell, individually polished and fitted, and they catch light differently than any plastic handle ever could.
