This is an authentic Selmer ligature from the 1970s or earlier.
The in in MADE in FRANCE is lowercase, and the SELMER lettering is also a smaller type than the later models.

Compared to current mainstream ligatures that produce a bright and crisp tone, this one offers a mellow, warm, and slightly subdued sound. (It's not muffled, but possesses a good balance of brightness.)
It also provides a moderate resistance (a good kind of bite), making it easier to control rather than feeling like the sound just slips through.

Compared to later models, the tone is slightly softer with a rich, mature depth.

Aside from the difference in the engraving, the size and metal thickness are exactly the same as later models. Therefore, we speculate that the material (metal) and lacquer may be different.

In any case, this item is about half a century old, and good examples are becoming increasingly rare. (We believe that more and more pieces will show damage from rust, especially on the inside.)
