A breathtaking antique handmade filet crochet coverlet worked entirely in cream cotton thread, with a mesmerizing repeating geometric floral pattern — four-petal medallions set within a precise diamond lattice — created entirely through the interplay of open and closed crochet work. Held to the light, the effect is luminous and lace-like. I suspect its artisan ran out of the original color and finished with what they had, which adds to the character of this piece. Other than that, there are no major flaws.
