Description

Dinosaurs is an American television drama series. It aired on ABC from April 26, 1991, to July 20, 1994. In Japan, it was broadcast from April 8, 1995, to July 6, 1996. It ran for 5 seasons with a total of 65 episodes.

The setting is the Pangaea continent during the age of dinosaurs (60 million years ago). In this drama, the dinosaurs live lives much like modern humans. Each episode is self-contained, with the Sinclair family facing various problems in this home comedy. The actors are life-sized Muppet dolls, but their realistic movements and expressions create incredibly human-like performances, resulting in a highly realistic drama.

Although it is a drama for preschool children, it touches upon themes that may be difficult for children to understand, such as anti-war movements, environmental issues, drugs, sexual harassment, racial discrimination, a stratified society, occupational discrimination, a gender-equal society, and corporate moral hazard. Furthermore, issues related to mass media are often raised in most episodes. A characteristic of this drama is the frequent depiction of a foolish public easily influenced by media reports. Episode 3 of Season 1 was not broadcast in Japan due to a scene of the eldest daughter, Charlene, drinking alcohol (as scenes of underage drinking are prohibited by Japanese broadcast codes).

However, with the exception of the final episode of the final season, each episode concludes with a comedic happy ending, making it a program that can be watched with peace of mind by children.
