Early Ruth Gibbs Porcelain Hand Painted Shoulder Head Doll Vintage 13 Original Condition: Didn't find any significant damage. See the photos. Markings: RUTH GIBBS on back of the shoulders Measurement: 13 tall this is a Ruth Gibbs Godey's Little Lady doll, a collectible American-made china doll from the 1940s to mid-1950s. It features a porcelain (glazed china) shoulder head, lower arms, and lower legs attached to a cloth body. The shoes and jewelry are painted on. The doll is wearing its original-style organdy lingerie (pantaloons and a matching chemise/top) with lace trim and black ribbon bows. Based on the clothing, this is a very early example. Later dolls wore cotton mesh lingerie.
