Buescher Aristocrat Cornet - For switching between trumpet and cornet
The Aristocrat 265 is a cornet released by Buescher in the mid-1930s, designated as a premium model under the Aristocrat Custom Built name.
It was positioned as a higher-grade version of the basic model within Buescher's Aristocrat series (commonly known as Aristocrat) at the time, intended as a top-tier instrument for professionals.
Compared to the standard Aristocrat (base model), the 265 model featured a higher grade in terms of finish and design, characterized by its silver-plated finish with gold-plated engraving and a gold-washed bell (gold plating on the inside of the bell).
The catalog of the era advertised it as achieving a true cornet tone through a perfectly balanced design of bore (inner diameter) and taper, indicating that it prioritized traditional cornet tone and playing feel rather than unconventional shapes.
This particular instrument, as described above, boasts a beautiful engraving, gold accents, and a bell rim, making for a very luxurious construction.
Additionally, it features a 3rd valve slide saddle as standard, which is rare for an instrument of this era and facilitates pitch correction.
With its compact bell, it produces a highly transparent sound suitable for genres such as concert bands, marching bands, and jazz.
The airtightness is excellent, comparable to new condition.
In fact, the fit is so tight that it suggests the instrument has been barely used.
Its condition is truly remarkable for an instrument of this age.
The plating on the surface remains perfect.
The satin finish also remains finely intact.
There are very minor dents on the mouthpiece receiver and bell, but they do not affect playability in any way and should be easily repairable.
We have captured these as clearly as possible in the photos, so please examine them carefully.
Modern mouthpieces such as Denis Wick or Bach can be used.
Please note that it does not have a trumpet shank.
Although approximately 90 years old, its pitch balance and tone are superb, and it offers a warmth distinct from modern instruments.
This is a museum-quality piece.
As this is an antique item, please make your purchase based on your own judgment.
To avoid any issues, we will do our best to provide additional photos or information upon request. Please feel free to ask any questions.
Comes with original mouthpiece and case.
