●Work Synopsis
【The Man Called Bacchus】
Paris, 17th Century France. After the death of her husband, Louis XIII, Queen Anne (Hitomi Tsukikage) appoints Cardinal Mazarin (Kou Shiofuki) as her chief minister to rule in place of her young son, wielding supreme power at the Palais-Royal.
One night, at the Palais-Royal, while the Duke of Enghien (Koki Naruse) is reporting on the conquest of a German fortress, Julien (Yuu Totoroki), a wandering chansonnier disguised as Bacchus, appears. He appeals for the suffering of the common people due to war.
At that moment, Laszlo (Hikaru Asami), an envoy from Alsace, rushes in to plead for aid, but Mazarin dismisses him and imprisons Laszlo in the Bastille.
Julien, with the help of the old Three Musketeers (Rei Nantori, Noel Misa, Kaoru Ebira), the troubadour Michel (Takatsuki Kō), and the bandit Mandrin (Kei Arashi), plans to help all the prisoners escape and calls for the salvation of Alsace's plight...
