Vintage Scratch-Art Scratcher Tool Metal Scratchboard Shading Hatching USA

Vintage Scratcher tool made by the Scratch-Art Company, Massachusetts, a classic American scratchboard accessory dating to the mid-1970s or later. This is the original metal multi-edge texturing tool, stamped SCRATCHER TM / MFD BY SCRATCH-ART CO. USA on the face. It is designed for use on black-coated scratchboard and scraperboard, where each serrated edge scrapes away a band of evenly spaced parallel lines. The oval body carries several different toothed edges, each with its own line spacing, so a single tool gives the artist a full range of shading, hatching, and texture effects, while the fine point at the base works as a single-line scribe. A hanging hole at the top lets it store on a hook or pegboard.  This is an uncommon find for scratchboard and illustration artists, and a nice addition for anyone who works in the scraperboard medium or collects vintage American art tools.
