Rollei Magic I Twin-Lens Reflex Camera with Original Box

This is the Rollei magic I, the first automatic model produced by Franke & Heidecke from 1960-1963. A remarkable feature is its excellent external condition, suggesting it was rarely used. While there are minor scuffs on the edges of the case, there is almost no sign of use. All original accessories are included: the original box (with scuffs), instruction manual, and original case (with minimal signs of use). It is in what can be called complete condition. With 65 years having passed since its manufacture, a unit with such complete accessories is extremely rare today. While Rollei magic units are mostly circulated as parts these days, obtaining one in complete condition after nearly 65 years is almost impossible.

Functional condition: The Gossen selenium meter is alive and working. The shutter smoothly changes from high-speed to low-speed ranges in response to light intensity. While accuracy is unknown, the meter is functional, and the automatic function is operational. This model, the Rollei magic I, only has shooting modes for full auto and aperture-priority manual long exposure. The aperture-priority manual long exposure mode also worked.

Optical condition: Given the unused external condition and complete accessories, this unit is believed to have been stored for over 60 years with minimal use. Therefore, it is unlikely to have undergone regular maintenance. The main taking lens has age-related dirt and haze (approximately 10% by visual inspection). Based on experience, this may affect the captured image depending on the lighting conditions. If you intend to use it for actual shooting, lens maintenance is recommended.

Included in this listing: Rollei magic I body, original box, case, instruction manual. That's all.

This is an excellent unit for collectors. If you plan to use it, please consider maintenance.
