Vintage Austria Cufflinks .75 Gold Filigree Glass Overlay Cushion Square Silver  These are vintage circa 1950s-1960s era silver tone rhrodium plated cufflinks marked Austria. They have gold filigree inlay with a glass cabochon overlay. They are in very good pre-loved vintage condition.  Mid-century Austrian jewelry makers poured translucent yellow enamel onto a base disk, laid the intricate filigree pattern right over it, and securely sealed the entire combination beneath a high-domed, clear glass lens.  This glass dome does not just protect the delicate gold wires from bending or catching on clothing; it acts like a built-in magnifying glass. This amplifies the light refracting off the scrolling pattern, creating the deep, glowing depth visible in the photo.  Unlike modern clear finishes made of plastic or resin, these vintage pieces use true glass, which gives them a noticeably heavier, cold-to-the-touch feel and superior resistance to yellowing over time.
