Bauer Pottery Monterey Moderne Speckled Vintage Lidded Crock Casserole Dish Covered Bowl  This gorgeous vintage Bauer Pottery Monterey Moderne tan 7 5/8 round covered casserole is 4 3/4 in height at the top of the lid finial, 7 5/8 in width at the interior lip, tapers to rest on a 5 raised foot, and holds 40 oz. (5 cups). Ready for years of continued service, or to join a collection or display.  Despite being crafted in the 1930s (or earlier), the color of this lidded bowl is a surprisingly modern pinkish-oatmeal tan with Bauer's iconic grey and black speckle, plus a clean and glossy finish.  Marked BAUER on the bottom. Made in California, USA.  About Bauer Pottery  In 1910, after having wintered in Southern California a few times, J. A. Bauer decided to seek relief from the Kentucky cold and move his family and business to Los Angeles permanently. The J.A. Bauer Pottery Company opened in Lincoln Heights, just north of downtown. Bauer pottery is famous for Ringware dinnerware as well as western-styled pieces befitting the California bungalow aesthetic, such as the Indian bowl.
