Vintage Dixon DTR drafting pencils, No. 7500 in grade 4B, made in the USA by the Joseph Dixon Crucible Co. of Jersey City, New Jersey. DTR stands for Drafting, Tracing, Reproduction — these were professional-grade graphite pencils made for technical drawing, tracing, and reproduction work. The 4B is a soft, dark grade, which also makes these well suited to sketching, shading, and expressive drawing, not only drafting. The original box held a dozen; this one contains ten pencils. They carry the older Dixon DTR packaging and the Jersey City maker's address, a nice detail for collectors of vintage American drafting supplies as well as artists who still draw with them.
