German Erzgebirge Miniature Wooden Village Vintage

Vintage German Erzgebirge miniature wooden village pieces. These handcrafted toys have a long history, originating in the Ore Mountain region of Germany during the 18th century as a way for mining families to supplement their income.   The set includes various pieces such as houses with red roofs, a church with a blue steeple, people and several trees.  The items are part of a tradition of German wooden folk art, often used as Christmas village or Putz displays.   Some pieces are stamped Made in German Democratic Republic”, indicating a potential manufacturing date from the mid-to-late 20th century.   12 pieces total, truly vintage condition with wear that occurs naturally, adding to its rustic charm.
