Antique Limoges Porcelain Inkwell‎ Chanill Paris Gilt Mount French Desk

Lid is included and intact. Duck on lid has head broken off. Not repaired but comes with. Tail has small chip.  Antique French porcelain inkwell made of Limoges porcelain for the Paris luxury retailer Chanill.  This early 20th-century desk inkwell features a soft cream glaze with turquoise scrollwork and a hand-painted floral cartouche, housed in its original gilt metal mount. The base is clearly marked Limoges France and Chanill Paris with the retailer's crest.  The inkwell has a main ink opening along with a secondary opening, typical of higher-quality French desk accessories from this period. The original glass liner and lid are not present, which is common on surviving examples.  Condition:  • Porcelain is intact with no cracks noted  • Light age-appropriate wear  • Some surface discoloration on the underside from age  • Gilt metal mount shows normal wear consistent with age  • No liner or lid  A handsome and decorative antique writing accessory, ideal for a traditional desk, library, or collector of French porcelain and desk antiques.
