VTG Hand Woven Wool Rug Double Head Snake 46x28” Southwestern Rustic Lodge Ranch

Handmade vintage wool rug featuring a prominent, stylized design of two serpents with triangular heads in brown, orange, plum and gray tones.  The central design shows two large, zigzagging, snake-like figures rendered in a whirling log or similar traditional motif, commonly seen in Southwestern weaving to represent spiritual concepts or nature.  The piece utilizes earthy tones, including brown, orange, black, and gray.  There are two strips of silk on the back side. I don’t know if these were original or added later.  Some minor discoloration on the edges  Purchased from an estate of a Catholic bishop who spent time in the 60s in Arizona.
