Antique Syracuse China porcelain egg coddler or covered serving cup in classic white restaurant ware with patent dates 1879 and 1893. Early American hotel and restaurant china collectible with original metal lid. This covered egg cup features a white vitrified porcelain body with a screw-on metal lid and references early patented designs dated February 4, 1879 and June 13, 1893. Marked on the base: “The Premier Egg Cup Co. Feb. 4-79 Pat. June 13-93 Syracuse, N.Y. Syracuse China” Syracuse China was a well-known American manufacturer of high-quality hotel and restaurant ware, and these egg coddlers were designed for gentle egg cooking or covered table service. Very good antique condition with no chips or cracks observed. Light age-appropriate wear to the porcelain and metal lid consistent with use.
