This is an iron hanging lantern.
My grandfather had this hanging from the eaves of his tea room, and he is parting with it due to renovations.

It has been displayed outdoors for a long time, so there is some rust.

The door has a bird motif, but due to what seems like poorly adjusted hinges, it remains open when hung.
