Chinju no Mori No. 30: Gagaku (Ancient Japanese Court Music) - Shinto Youth Liaison Council Leaflet
This is a leaflet about Gagaku (ancient Japanese court music) that was received during a visit to Kamo-jinja Shrine, a World Heritage site in Kyoto. Since there were two leaflets, I am offering one for sale.
Gagaku is a unique Japanese music with over a thousand years of history, performed in Shinto rituals at shrines and other sacred places. Even today, Gagaku is performed not only by the Imperial Household Agency's Music Department, established in the Meiji era, but also at shrines across the country, preserving traditional culture.
The leaflet concisely introduces Gagaku instruments,
the composition of orchestral and dance music, and explanations of words derived from Gagaku (such as uchiawase and kotsu o tsukamu).
This would be perfect for those interested in Shinto, Gagaku, or Japanese traditional culture, including foreigners. We highly recommend considering its purchase.
