This is a scroll-shaped amulet passed down at Okunoin, said to be created by Kobo Daishi.
Normally, it is kept in its scroll form within its box and can be worshipped by placing it on a home altar or Buddhist altar. However, in times of great need (such as illness, surgery, childbirth, exams, marriage, moving, business, etc.), you can break the seal of the scroll, join your hands, and receive its protection.
First, Ususama Myōō (a Buddha who purifies all impurities) will appear, cleanse your impurities, and then bestow the merits of all the Buddhas and Bodhisattvas of the Mandala upon you without reservation. This is a truly precious amulet.

Furthermore, if you never need to break the seal, it is also a sign that you have been protected by the amulet.
